Communication Strategies in a Matching Game

چکیده

This paper explores the communication and choice strategies of agents in a matching game, where agents are uncertain about their payoffs, and payoffs of each agent depend on and are partly known to the potential partner. Business examples of such decisions include mergers, acquisitions, distribution channel partners, as well as manufacturing and brand alliances. When communication is informative, the communication strategy as a function of the expected payoff of the partnership involves pretending fit when expected payoff is high, pretending misfit when expected payoff is low, and telling the truth in an intermediate range. The condition for informativeness of communication turns out to be that the distribution of payoffs should have thin tails.

Paired-Domination Game Played in Graphs

In this paper, we continue the study of the domination game in graphs introduced by Bre{v{s}}ar, Klav{v{z}}ar, and Rall. We study the paired-domination version of the domination game which adds a matching dimension to the game. This game is played on a graph $G$ by two players, named Dominator and Pairer. They alternately take turns choosing vertices of $G$ such that each vertex chosen by Domin...

Parental Mediation of Children’s Video Game Experiences: Iranian Parents’ Strategies of Mediation

Despite tremendous popularity of video games, there have been concerns about their detrimental effects on children. The game rating systems were developed to assist parents in monitoring their children’s gaming experiences. This paper explores how parents in Iran, as a society without established media rating systems, control their children’s gaming experiences. Mixed methods of semi-structured...

Matching and chatting: An experimental study of the impact of network communication on school-matching mechanisms

While, in theory, the school matching problem is a static non-cooperative oneshot game, in reality the “matching game” is played by parents who choose their strategies after consulting or chatting with other parents in their social networks. In this paper we compare the performance of the Boston and the Gale-Shapley mechanisms in the presence of chatting through social networks. Our results ind...

Aligning Experientially Grounded Ontologies Using Language Games

Ontology alignment is essential to enable communication in a multi-agent system where agents have heterogeneous ontologies. We use language games as a decentralised iterative ontology alignment solution in a multi-agent system where ontologies are grounded in measurements taken in a dynamic environment. Rather than attempting to ground ontologies through physical interaction, we design language...

Multi Responses Optimization Through Game Theory Approach

In this paper, a new approach based on game theory has been proposed to multi responses problem optimization. Game theory is a useful tool for decision making in the conflict of interests between intelligent players in order to select the best joint strategy for them through selecting the best joint desirability. Present research uses the game theory approach via definition of each response as ...
